Get Involved: Why Not Protest A Little?

Before we get to the actual events, you may be asking yourself, “Why should I get involved with a protest?”  For one, a small gathering will get us no where.  It looks pathetic and sends the message that we’re not that serious.  But the main reason is why not?  What do you have to lose, really?  Sure people will see you out there, but believe me, there is safety in numbers.  So go to one of the protests listed below, or even make a weekend of it.  Maybe someone will throw an after-party (hint hint).  Hopefully I’ll see you there.

#1 – Public Option Protest – Friday There is a pressing issue locally that I think we can utilize to our advantage. The Senator theatre in Baltimore, MD is having a rally on Oct 23 to support the public option. It is open to public and in a public theatre. We must rally hundreds to overwhelm them (the theatre seats 900 people) and rally against the public option. I am sure the local media will be covering this and they will probably not expect a counter anti public option rally. Date: Friday, October 23, 2009 Time: 5:30pm – 8:30pm Location: The Senator Theatre Street: 5904 York Road City/Town: Baltimore EVENT

#2 – PROTEST SENATOR MIKULSKI IN ANNAPOLIS Saturday, October 24, 1:30-3pm Sen.Mikulski voted to block the amendment to allow bills to be on a website for 72 hours before they vote, she’s voted for Cap and Trade and Bailouts. We’ve decided to bring our concerns to her office in Annapolis on Saturday, October 24, at 60 West Street, Annapolis from 1:30 to 3. I live in Middle River and can take 3 more to carpool. Email Jackie Auburn at Make respectful signs and to the point. Join me in annapolis!
