Annapolis – Maryland
Statement from Maryland Republican Party Chairman Audrey Scott
Regarding President Obama’s Visit to Maryland
“Another week brings us another jobs-related photo op in Maryland for President Obama. Unfortunately for Maryland families, the number of Presidential visits to the State in this year alone is quickly beginning to far outnumber the number of jobs that have been created from his failed stimulus plan.
“Even members of President Obama’s own Party are starting to publicly admit the stimulus program is a bust. Senator Evan Bayh (D-IN) stated this morning:
“But if I could create one job in the private sector by helping to grow a business that would be one more than Congress has created in the last six months.” (Morgan, CBS News Political Hotsheet, 2/16/10)
“Considering that Maryland has lost more than 50,000 jobs since the stimulus was enacted and in light of the President’s sagging poll numbers nationwide, the recent flurry of Presidential visits raises a very important question: Are these simply PR stunts or does the White House now consider Maryland to be a battleground state?”
