Where Will You Be 4/7/10?

What’s the worst kept secret in the state of Maryland?  You got it!  Bob Ehrlich is stepping up to reclaim his throne.  It’s been all over the news in the past couple of days, becoming official today.  But what you might not know is that Bob himself will be in our area next Wednesday, April 7th, for his official kick-off.  Sure, he’ll visit Rockville earlier in the day, but he’ll end his tour de MD in his hometown of Arbutus, which just happens to be right around the corner from me.  Yay!

Here are deets (or details from those over 40):

Governor Ehrlich’s Official Campaign Kick Off

Wednesday, April 7th

6:00 PM

Dewey Lowman American Legion

1610 Old Sulphur Spring Rd, Halethorpe, MD 21227

Free Event but I’m sure he’d appreciate your “support” if you know what I mean.

So what about parking?  People have been waiting for this day for a very long time.  Seriously, I think most of the conservatives in Maryland have gained 10 pounds just sitting on the couch watching reruns of Southpark…waiting, waiting, waiting.  Okay, so it might not be that drastic, but if you show up just before 6 and expect to find a parking space, good luck with that (and the Dewey Lowman parking lot is pretty large).

But no worries, I have a super sneaky plan.  Show up at 3:50, park at Dewey Lowman, then walk or hitchhike (with someone you know, because the other way is illegal and just plain stupid) down to the corner of Benson Ave and Sulphur Spring Rd.  Then grab an Ehrlich sign and start waving to traffic.  You’ll just blend in with the other “wavers.”  Honestly, it’s the perfect plan.  They’ll never know you’re just securing your “reserved” space.  And if you happen to have a Whisler, Nalley, or Augie shirt, you could even be sneakier and wear it to show support for District 12A and Baltimore County.  Am I genius or what?

    Good morning,
I like the idea of the sign waving for the Governor but there is one problem. We will not have any available parking at the Dewey Lowman post on that date. All spaces on our lot have been included/reserved in a master plan to handle that day’s activity. According to the campaign officials and the police/security personnel, there will be shuttle bus service available (I believe from the Verizon lot on Joh avenue but that was not confirmed the last time they spoke with us) Vehicle access to the Post will be controlled all day.
We welcome you to attend the event and hope the sign-waving is a success.

    Respectfully submitted,
    Robert D. Haney
A.L. Post 109 Home Committee Chairman

    • Thank you so much for letting us know Robert. We will contact the Ehrlich officials and make arrangements for our sign wavers. We need to make sure that there is somewhere to park at 4:00, even if it means shuttles.
